Sir George Francis Davis arrived from New Zealand and founded Davis Gelatine in Sydney, 1917. Gelatine was not made on any scale in Australasia at that time, so George travelled to London to educate himself in the intricacies of gelatine production. On returning, he dedicated his life to refining the craft, his dream being to have a Davis product in every household in Australia. With a head for business and a passion for food, George created many of Australia’s first cookbooks, and it wasn’t long before Davis with their ‘Dainty Dishes’ was not only an Australian household name but trusted internationally as a culinary kitchen staple.
